About Us

Bear Town Bears brings together local artists and corporate/civic sponsors to place life-size, hand-painted, fiberglass Bears throughout New Bern, North Carolina.  The Bear, being the symbol of the historic town of
New Bern, was selected for this public-art project.

New Bern will celebrate its 300-year anniversary in 2010; all these whimsical Bears will be on display throughout that entire year.  The Bear Town Bears Steering Committee is planning many events highlighting the Bears during 2010.  The installations will be included as part of the Bear tracks, guiding you through an art experience of public art sculptures in the community.

Bear Town Bears also encourages participation of our youth by allowing schools, teachers and students to sponsor, paint and enjoy the Bears as an educational opportunity.

If you are an organization interested in sponsoring a Bear or an artist desiring to paint one, please review
our links.
